Privacy Policy
Seeds of Harmony teaches music to children ages 2–6, so we hold ourselves to a simple standard: collect as little as possible, use it only to teach, and never sell it. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and the controls you have as a parent or guardian.
The short version
- We never ask for a child's full name, email, phone number, location, or voice/video.
- Child data is never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or data brokers.
- There are no behavioral tracking or advertising SDKs in our apps.
- You can permanently delete your account and all child data yourself, any time.
1. Who We Are
Seeds of Harmony is operated by Seeds of Harmony LLC, together with its affiliate Keys to Life Inc. ("Seeds of Harmony," "we," "us"). Our mission is to teach Fixed-Do Solfège by ear, so young children learn music the way they learn their first language: by hearing it.
This policy covers our website (seedsofharmony.net), the Parent Portal, and the Seeds of Harmony apps for web, iOS, and Android. Questions or requests? Email us at [email protected].
2. COPPA & FTC Compliance
Seeds of Harmony is designed specifically for children ages 2–6, which means we are directed to children under 13. We build and operate the service to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and the FTC's COPPA Rule (16 C.F.R. Part 312).
- Parents hold the keys. Accounts are created and managed by an adult parent or guardian. Children use the app inside child profiles that the parent creates.
- Parental consent. By creating an account and a child profile, the parent or guardian consents to the limited collection described in this policy. Where the COPPA Rule requires verifiable parental consent for a particular practice, we obtain it before the practice begins.
- Your COPPA rights. At any time you may review the information associated with your child, ask us to delete it, and refuse further collection or use. See Parental Controls & Data Deletion.
- Data minimization. We do not condition a child's participation on providing more information than is reasonably necessary for the lesson.
3. Child Educational Telemetry (Internal Operations)
To teach well, the app needs to know how a lesson went. We collect a small set of pseudonymized activity metrics, linked to a random profile identifier rather than to a child's identity. We collect it solely to "support the internal operations" of the service as defined in 16 C.F.R. § 312.2.
| What we collect | Why |
|---|---|
| Time spent on each worksheet or activity | Pacing the curriculum and showing parents learning progress. |
| Instrument selections | Remembering a child's favorite sounds and personalizing practice. |
| Star milestones | Awarding rewards and showing progress to parents. |
| Completion rates | Improving lesson design and unlocking the next Drip at the right time. |
| Technical diagnostics (e.g., app version, crash and error reports) | Finding and fixing bugs, and keeping the service secure. |
We use this telemetry only to:
- maintain and diagnose the service and fix technical issues;
- personalize the in-app learning experience; and
- give parents transparent insight into their child's learning progress.
What we never collect from children
We collect zero child full names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical or precise geolocation, photos, or voice and video recordings. The app does not use the camera or microphone to record your child, and we do not use persistent identifiers for advertising or cross-service profiling.
4. Zero Third-Party Advertising
We never sell, lease, rent, or share children's information with third-party advertising networks or data brokers. This is an absolute commitment, not a preference.
- No advertising of any kind appears in our apps.
- No behavioral advertising, retargeting, or cross-app profiling.
- No behavioral tracking or ad-attribution SDKs are included in our apps.
- No social media features, open chat, or links that let a child leave the app unsupervised.
- Our website does not use third-party marketing or advertising cookies. Any cookies or local storage we use are limited to what is needed to keep you signed in and the site working.
5. Parent Information & Communications
What we collect from adults
- Account details: your name and email address, used to sign you in and link your subscription across web, iOS, and Android.
- Payment information: processed securely by Stripe on the web, or by Apple or Google for in-app purchases. We never see or store your full card number; we receive only a customer ID, subscription status, and similar billing details.
- Free-lesson sign-ups: if you join Drip 0, we keep your email address so we can send the free starter materials.
- Support messages: whatever you choose to send us when you write to [email protected].
How we communicate with you
- Transactional messages: receipts, billing notices, renewal reminders, account and security alerts, and welcome guides. These are part of providing the service.
- Weekly learning progress: a summary of your child's musical progress.
- Occasional recommendations: we may tell you about future educational programs and apps from Seeds of Harmony and Keys to Life Inc. These are sent to parents only, never to children, and never include third-party advertising.
Every non-transactional email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Opting out never affects your subscription or your child's access to lessons.
Service providers
We share information only with vendors that help us run the service, under contracts that limit them to doing that work for us:
- Stripe: web payments and subscription billing.
- Apple and Google: in-app purchases and subscription management.
- RevenueCat: syncing subscription entitlements across platforms.
- Supabase: secure account and app-data storage.
- Cloudflare: website hosting, security, and lesson video delivery.
- Resend and Mailchimp: sending parent emails.
- Google Fonts: delivering the typefaces used on this website.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the safety of a child or others, or in a merger or sale of the business (in which case the buyer must honor this policy).
6. Parental Controls & Data Deletion
The Parental Gate
Inside the app, anything meant for adults sits behind our ParentalGateWidget, an adult-level challenge that a young child cannot readily pass. It protects:
- purchases, subscription management, and the Parent Portal;
- links that lead outside the app;
- child profile settings; and
- account deletion.
Delete everything, yourself
In line with Apple App Store Guideline 5.1.1(v), you can delete your account from inside the app without contacting us. Open the Parent area, pass the Parental Gate, and choose Delete Account. This permanently deletes your parent account, every child profile, and all associated learning and activity data.
- It is permanent. Deleted data cannot be restored.
- Subscriptions are separate. Cancel any active subscription with the platform you bought it through (the Parent Portal for web purchases, or your Apple or Google account settings) so billing stops.
- Limited retention. We may keep minimal billing and tax records for as long as the law requires, and routine backups age out on a short, fixed schedule. These records are never used to profile or contact your child.
Review, correct, or stop collection
You may also email [email protected] from the address on your account to see the information tied to your child, correct it, delete it, or revoke consent for further collection. We may need to verify that you are the account holder before acting. Revoking consent may mean we can no longer provide certain features to that child profile.
7. Security & Retention
We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls, and limited staff access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep data safe and to tell affected families promptly if something goes wrong. We keep child telemetry only as long as your account is active and as needed for the purposes above, then delete it.
8. Other Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live (for example, California or other U.S. states), you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. We honor these requests for all parents regardless of location. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
9. Changes to This Policy
If we make a material change, especially one affecting children's information, we will notify parents by email and, where the law requires, obtain fresh consent before applying the change to existing child data. The "Last updated" date at the top always shows the current version.
